Tell us about your company.

Patrik: Samplimy is a KTH spin-off developing painless self-sampling of blood and interstitial fluid from the skin using microneedles. By making sample collection easy and cost-efficient, we enable large-scale decentralized clinical trials, biomarker discovery, and population screenings. Thereby unlocking access to fundamental health information that drives the shift towards preventive care and improved patient outcomes. What made you become an entrepreneur?

Patrik: With a background in Industrial Design, I have always been driven by social innovation and building products with the potential to create change on a larger scale. This journey has taken me from working with impact organizations in Vietnam to a Clinical Innovation Fellowship at KTH and KI in Sweden, and ultimately to becoming a serial medtech entrepreneur with the goal of improving quality of life for as many people as possible.

What is the most challenging part of running your own startup?

Patrik: Disruptive startups always operate in a high degree of uncertainty, making it challenging to stay on the right track while balancing short- and long-term priorities. You need to keep a fast-paced mindset to ensure that all resources—people, time, and capital—are optimized towards reaching critical milestones.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced when looking for funding?

Patrik: Securing early investment is often a catch-22, and finding the right investor who shares and understands your long-term vision is essential. Very often you find yourself between investors who want to see immediate sales vs those who prioritize building the foundation to scale fast further down the road.

What is the most rewarding aspect of entrepreneurship?

Patrik: The small victories and conversations with grateful customers or patients along the way that make you keep your dream alive, and give you the strength to push through the next hurdle.
